My Approach To Therapy

My clients often share with me that they find my approach warm, gentle, and grounded in compassion. I integrate a range of evidence-based therapies - including CBT, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapies, MERIT, and EMDR (see My Online Services for more information) - to provide support that is thoughtful, flexible, and responsive to your needs.

Therapy, to me, is a deeply collaborative journey. We work together to understand the challenges you are navigating, explore what matters most to you, and develop practical strategies that strengthen resilience and emotional wellbeing. My aim is to help you build insight, develop tools that genuinely support your life, and move forward with greater clarity, steadiness, and self-trust so that you can navigate life's complexities with greater confidence and live a more meaningful life.

My Areas of Specialisation

I offer compassionate and evidence-based support for adults (18+) experiencing a range of mental health concerns. My primary areas of specialisation are:

  • Trauma & PTSD

Providing sensitive and effective support for individuals processing past trauma, PTSD, or complex trauma.

I help you reduce distress, build grounding skills, and promote long-term emotional healing.

  • Acculturation & Cultural Identity

Supporting individuals from Indian and South Asian backgrounds - as well as people from other culturally diverse communities - who are navigating immigration, acculturation stress, intergenerational conflict, or experiences of bicultural identity.

I offer a culturally sensitive, affirming space to explore these challenges with confidence and clarity.

  • Anxiety & Stress Management

Helping individuals experiencing anxiety disorders (including GAD, social anxiety, panic attacks), OCD, chronic stress, or burnout.

Together, we work to develop practical coping tools, ease worry and tension, and regain a sense of calm and steadiness.

  • Depression & Mood Concerns

Supporting individuals experiencing depression, low mood, emotional dysregulation, and mood episodes (including bipolar disorder).

My focus is on fostering resilience, strengthening emotional well-being, and supporting a return to vitality and engagement in life.

If you're experiencing challenges in any of these areas, I invite you to reach out. If what you're experiencing is not listed here or you're unsure, I still welcome you to make contact — I may be able to help.

What You Can Expect

Starting therapy is a significant step, and it's natural to feel unsure or have questions. My aim is to make your experience as clear, supportive, and comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect when you begin therapy with me at Veritas Clinical Psychology:

Getting Started: The First Steps

  • Initial Contact

    • Your journey may begin with a confidential enquiry (via email or contact form - see the Contact Me page). I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and help us both determine whether my services feel like the right fit. This call is optional and obligation-free.

    • If you'd prefer, you're also welcome to book your first session directly without a phone consultation. You can email me, use my contact form, or click the Book a Session button at the top of the page.

  • Paperwork

    • Before your first session, I'll send you a secure link to an online intake & consent form and a questionnaire - so I can better understand your needs and ensure our session is well prepared.

Your First Session (Initial Consultation): The Assessment

  • A Gentle Exploration

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I'll listen carefully as you share what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I may ask questions to understand your current challenges, history, and strengths.

  • Collaborative Goal Setting

Together, we'll explore what feels most important for you right now. We will identify meaningful goals and begin shaping a plan that supports you moving forward.

Ongoing Sessions: The Therapeutic Process

  • A Safe & Collaborative Space

All sessions take place via a secure, encrypted online video platform (I use a HIPAA compliant Google Meet link). This allows you to join from a private and comfortable space of your choosing. Each session runs for 50-minutes and provides dedicated time for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment (if you wish to have a longer session, we can discuss options).

  • Tailored Support

Our work together will be highly collaborative and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I draw on evidence-based approaches including CBT, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapies, MERIT, and EMDR to help you build insight, develop coping tools, and foster meaningful change.

  • A Focus on Empowerment

My aim is to support you in developing deep self-understanding and practical skills so you can navigate life's complexities with greater confidence and move toward a more grounded, connected, and fulfilling life.

Practicalities of Online Therapy

  • Technology & Confidentiality

We will meet via a secure, encrypted Telehealth platform (Google Meet), ensuring your privacy, safety, and data security at all times. I'll provide clear instructions on how to connect before your first session.

  • Ensuring Privacy

To protect your confidentiality, please make sure you are in a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable and will not be interrupted during your session.

  • What You Need

All you need is a stable internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone. A pair of headphones can also help enhance privacy and sound quality.

Fees & Rebates

My session fees are outlined on the Fees page. You do not need a referral to book a session with me - you're welcome to make an appointment at any time.

Private health insurance rebates may be available depending on your policy. Please check with your insurer to see whether psychological services are included in your cover.

If you live in Australia and wish to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or a referral from a psychiatrist.

Taking the first step can feel big, but it's the beginning of a meaningful journey — and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
