Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy often comes with questions. Here you'll find helpful information about online sessions, appointments, fees, and what to expect when working together.

Getting Started
Do I need a referral to see you?
No. You are welcome to contact me and book a session at any time — a referral is not required.
If you live in Australia and would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or a referral from a psychiatrist.
How do I book a session?
You can book a session by contacting me via email or the contact form on this website.
Please feel free to include your general availability and preferred contact method, and I will respond to organise a suitable appointment time.
Do you offer a complimentary phone call?
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation for new clients. This is an opportunity to briefly discuss what you're looking for support with, ask questions, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
How soon will I hear back from you?
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 1–2 business days.

Online Therapy
Do you only offer online sessions?
Yes. Veritas Clinical Psychology operates exclusively online.
Online therapy allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, wherever you are located.
Is online therapy effective?
Yes. Research consistently shows that online psychological therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns.
Many clients also find online sessions more convenient and comfortable.
What technology do I need?
To participate in online therapy you will need:
-
A stable internet connection
-
A computer, tablet, or smartphone
-
A camera and microphone for video sessions (not required for phone sessions)
-
A quiet and private space
Sessions can take place via secure video, audio, phone, or messaging, depending on what suits you best.
Do you work with clients outside Australia?
Yes. I work with clients across Australia and internationally.
Please note that Medicare rebates are only available for clients located in Australia who have a valid Mental Health Care Plan.

Fees & Rebates
How much do sessions cost?
Session fees are outlined in detail on the Fees page of this website.
Do you offer Medicare rebates?
If you live in Australia and have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or a referral from a psychiatrist, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for your sessions.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Many private health insurance policies provide rebates for psychological services.
If you have private health insurance, please check directly with your insurer to see whether psychological services are included in your cover.

Cancellation Policy
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or missed appointments, may incur the full session fee.
This policy helps ensure that appointment times remain available for clients who need them.

Session Information
How long are sessions?
Standard therapy sessions run for 50-minutes.
How often will we meet?
Session frequency varies depending on your needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly or fortnightly sessions, which can be adjusted over time.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy.
We may explore your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. This helps us develop a shared understanding of how I can best support you.

Crisis Support
What if I need urgent support?
Veritas Clinical Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require immediate support, please contact one of the following services:
